Karachi Blasts Strike Shi'ite Neighborhood

Demonstration in Karachi on November 22

Two bomb blasts in the Pakistani city of Karachi have killed at least five people and injured 18 others.

The blasts on November 22 exploded within minutes of one another in a predominantly Shi'ite neighborhood.

A police source was quoted as saying the bombs were both planted on motorcycles.

Earlier the same day at least 15,000 people in Karachi attended a rally to protest sectarian violence following an incident in Rawalpindi last week that left 11 people dead.

In that incident, a Shi'ite procession disturbed the sermon at a Sunni mosque, leading to clashes between the two groups.
