China Praises Ties With Pakistan

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has praised ties between the two countries as he continues a visit to Islamabad.

"China-Pakistan relation has endured time and changes in global situations, in order to become an example of how two socially different neighbors can work in peace and trust each other," Jiaboa said.

He continued, "China-Pakistan relation has exceeded the boundaries and have a greater influence in regional and international countries. To develop China-Pakistan military relation is China's firm plan. Under no circumstances will it change."

China and Pakistan signed around $20 billion worth of deals on December 17, in fields including energy, rail transport, reconstruction, agriculture, and culture. They are expected to sign additional deals.

Also today, Wen is to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, attend a business cooperation summit and inaugurate a new Chinese cultural center in Islamabad. On Sunday, He will address a joint session of the Pakistani parliament before leaving.
