Reports from Pakistan say a suspected suicide bomber has detonated his explosives near a vehicle carrying a senior police official in the port city of Karachi, killing at least three people.
All of the dead in the attack were men, and police suspect one of the bodies may be the bomber.
At least five people were reported wounded in the blast in the Malir area.
The apparent target of the bombing, Malir police chief Rao Anwar, escaped unharmed.
Anwar later said responsibility for the attack had been claimed by the Sunni Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan group.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has said ethnic, sectarian, and politically linked violence has killed at least 300 people so far this year in Karachi.
