Podcast: Putin's Nationalist International

Putin is forming a Popular Front of Populists.

Some are authoritarians and some are populists. Some are Euroskeptics and some are xenophobes. Some are just opportunists.

Many are anti-immigrant and most are antiglobalization.

They feed on the fears and resentments of the disaffected, the humiliated, and the disenfranchised. They sow division, discord, chaos, and intolerance.

And whether they're doing so willingly or unwittingly, they are nevertheless acting as pawns in Vladimir Putin's great game.

They're advancing the Kremlin leader's goal of tearing down Western liberal democracy.

They're the foot soldiers of the Putin International. And they're on the march.

On this week's Power Vertical Podcast, we discuss The Kremlin's Trojan Horses, an important report from the Atlantic Council on how Russia is using far-right forces in the West to advance the Kremlin's agenda.

Joining me are Alina Polyakova, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, deputy director of the Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center, and author of the book The Dark Side Of European Integration; and Anton Shekhovtsov, a visiting fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences and author of the forthcoming book Russia And The Western Far Right.
