Poland and the United States have signed an agreement to station F-16 fighters and C-130 Hercules transport aircraft on Polish soil together with a detachment of American pilots who would provide support for the aircraft and train their local counterparts.

The agreement was signed today in Warsaw by Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich and U.S. Ambassador Lee Feinstein.

Details of the agreement starting in 2013 were to be negotiated next year.

Plans for the deal were announced on the eve of a May 27-28 visit to Poland by U.S. President Barack Obama.
