Iranian President Hassan Rohani says the nuclear understanding reached between six world powers and Iran on April 2 will be a "historic memory" for the Iranian people.
Rohani, speaking in a nationally televised address, said Iran believes that in today's world, "threatening and pressuring others" does not work and any agreement should be a "win-win deal" for all sides.
He spoke one day after Iran and officials from Britain, Germany, France, the United States, Russia, and China agreed to "key parameters" of a framework deal aimed at restricting Iran's nuclear activities.
Rohani added it now depends on "both sides keeping promises" to put the final touches on the agreement curbing Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for relief from U.S., UN, and EU sanctions.
The deadline for finalizing the agreement is June 30.
Many Iranians celebrated the announcement of the framework deal, which was also praised by conservative cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani, the leader of Friday prayers in Tehran.
But some hard-line conservatives criticized the news of the agreement, saying Iran gave up too much in the negotiations and that the deal weakened Iran's nuclear program.
