The head of the scandal-hit Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has resigned.
Russian Sports Ministry says RUSADA Director-General Ramil Khabriev's resignation was accepted on December 10 at a meeting of the agency's founders, which include Russian sports bodies and government-backed organizations.
Earlier this month, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) suspended RUSADA and Russia's accredited testing laboratory after an independent commission uncovered widespread doping offenses and systematic failures.
Also, the International Association of Athletics Federation has provisionally banned Russia from international competition, potentially keeping Russian athletes out of next year's Summer Olympic Games in Rio.
Khabriev's resignation came during a visit by a WADA delegation tasked with ensuring drug testing continues during RUSADA's suspension.
