A number of passionate people who once flouted bans on protests, raided presidential offices, or founded opposition groups have left the country or retreated into their private lives. Yevgenia Debryanskaya was a determined gay rights activist and a co-founder of a party that called for the disbanding of the army and the legalization of same-sex marriage and marijuana.
