Russia's Gazprom 'Failed To Pay' For Turkmen Gas

Turkmenistan has accused Russian state gas company Gazprom of failing to pay for deliveries of Turkmen gas since the start of the year.

The Turkmen Oil and Gas Ministry said in a statement on July 8 that "continued global economic crisis and economic sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia" are the cause.

Gazprom has not yet commented on the accusations.

In recent years, Gazprom has purchased 10-11 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas annually.

Turkmenistan has meanwhile become a major supplier of gas to China.
