Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of Russia's state nuclear company Rosatom, told reporters on March 21 that construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran is proceeding according to schedule.
Asked why Bushehr was not yet operating at full capacity, Kiriyenko said current agreements don't call for Bushehr to be running at 100 percent by March.
"As far as we are concerned, everything is going as planned," Kiriyenko said.
The Bushehr project has seen several delays, including postponement of full operations that was set for the end of last year.
Rosatom Deputy General Director Aleksandr Lokshin said last month that Bushehr was already operating at 75 percent capacity and would reach 100-percent this summer.
Kiriyenko also told reporters that Rosatom has no plans to construct more nuclear power plants in Iran.
"We are not in talks with Iran about the construction of new [nuclear power plants]," Kiriyenko said.
