A man who shot dead 13 people in a village outside Belgrade earlier this week has died in a hospital of wounds he inflicted on himself at the end of his killing spree.

A source at Belgrade’s emergency center said 60-year-old war veteran Ljubisa Bogdanovic died in the afternoon on April 11.

Bogdanovic shot himself in the head after he went on a rampage early on April 10 in the village of Velika Ivanca, some 50 kilometers south of Belgrade, killing relatives and neighbors, including a 2-year-old child.

Bogdanovic also tried to kill his wife before he shot himself.

Bogdanovic’s wife is expected to recover despite having been shot in the head and neck.

The motive for the killings remains unclear.
