Spanish authorities say three suspected Al-Qaeda members arrested in Spain appeared to have been planning an attack on Spanish territory or in another European country.
Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz told a news conference in Madrid on August 2 that there was "clear indication that those arrested could have been planning an attack in Spain or in Europe."
The three were apprehended in Spain's southern Cadiz region.
Spanish media quoted police as saying the three were in possession of explosives and poison.
Media reports said two of the suspects were Chechens and one was a Turk.
The information could not be immediately confirmed.
