One Dead After Israel Bombs Syrian Posts

Syria says one person was killed and seven wounded after Israel attacked several of its military sites in retaliation for a roadside bombing that wounded four of its troops on the occupied Golan Heights.

The Israeli military said the targets hit early on March 19 included a Syrian military headquarters, a training facility, and artillery batteries.

Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, an Israeli military spokesman, said aircraft carried out the strikes.

He described targets as military facilities on the Syrian-held side of the Golan.

Syria described the Israeli strikes as a threat to regional security.

Spillover violence on the Golan from the civil war in Syria has often drawn Israeli return fire against Syrian positions.
