Syrian Rebels Reportedly Capture Air Base

Syrian activists say rebels fighting against the regime in Damascus have overrun a military air base in the northern province of Aleppo.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the rebels took control of the al-Jarrah base on February 12 following days of clashes.

The capture of the air field comes a day after Syrian rebel fighters reportedly took control of the country's largest hydroelectric dam on the Euphrates River in the province of Raqa.

Also on February 11, a car bomb exploded at a customs post on the Turkish side of the border with Syria, killing at least 13 people.

The UN estimates that at least 60,000 people have been killed during the country's conflict, which has been raging for nearly two years.
