Syrian Shelling Kills Two In Lebanon

Lebanese police say two girls have been killed and 10 others injured in northern Lebanon by shelling and rocket fire coming from Syrian territory.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that several homes were hit in the Wadi Khaled region after more than 20 shells crashed on the area, causing local residents to flee.

In Syria, state television reported that "terrorist groups from Lebanon" had tried to infiltrate Qusayr in Homs Province.

It added that Syrian security forces had killed "dozens" of terrorists.

The incident comes after a rocket was fired from Lebanon on July 2, which wounded two Syrian border police, triggering retaliatory gunfire from Syrian forces.

The incident on July 2 was the first time Lebanon's General Security agency reported firing from Lebanon into Syrian territory.
