A court in Tajikistan's northern Sughd Province has sentenced three people convicted of membership in the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) to jail terms ranging from eight to nine years.
Judge Anvar Temurov ordered that the three men should be placed in a maximum security prison after finding them guilty of establishing and participating in a criminal group.
The Sughd branch of the Interior Ministry said 33 IMU members and seven members of the Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir group have been detained in the first nine months of this year.
