Two Buddhist monks have set themselves on fire in China to protest Beijing's policies toward Tibet -- the latest in a series of self-immolations over the past year.
U.S.-funded Radio Free Asia reports that the monks burned themselves alive on May 27 outside a Buddhist temple in Lhasa, the capital of China's Tibetan Autonomous Region.
China's official Xinhua news agency reported that police put the flames out "in minutes" and that one of the men, named Dargye, survived and was in stable condition.
There have been more than 30 self-immolations since March 2011 in an effort to draw attention to China's restrictions on Buddhism and to call for the return from exile of the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.
