A former chief of staff of Turkey's armed forces has been detained in an investigation into the military's role in ousting the country's first Islamist-led government in the 1990s.
Turkish media said Ismail Hakki Karadayi was detained at his home in Istanbul on January 3.
He was chief of general staff from 1994 to 1998.
