Turkey Says U.S. Rockets Deploying Near Border To Attack IS In Syria

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has told a Turkish newspaper that the United States will deploy a rocket launcher system in Turkey near the border with Islamic State-held territory in Syria.

Cavusoglu told the Haberturk newspaper on April 26 that the deployment of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System in southeastern Turkey during May was part of a strategy to seal off an area around the Syrian town of Manbij.

The area in Turkey has repeatedly been hit by rocket fire coming from Syria.

Haberturk said the rocket system would be used to target Islamic State militants.
