Officials said two bombs have exploded in the Iraqi city of Tikrit, killing at least 12 people and injuring at least 28 others.
The twin blasts occurred outside a local bank as police and soldiers were collecting their salaries.
Police said a car bomb exploded outside the bank in the center of the city, and as emergency workers arrived on the scene, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Violence has subsided in Iraq, but bombings and attacks are still a nearly daily event.
The last U.S. troops are due to leave Iraq by the end of this year, more than eight years after a U.S.-led invasion toppled former leader Saddam Hussein, although U.S. officials have suggested they might be open to an "additional presence" if the Iraqi government requested it.
