In the United States, a Ukrainian man has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years for human trafficking.
A prosecutor in Philadelphia says 52-year-old Omelyan Botsvynyuk's human trafficking operation was "modern-day slavery."
Botsvynyuk and his brother were found guilty of forcing crews of desperate villagers from their homeland to work cleaning homes and businesses in Philadelphia and nearby states for little or no pay.
They also used sexual and physical force to intimidate workers.
The brother, Stepan Botsvynyuk, is due to be sentenced on July 17 and faces up to 20 years in prison for racketeering.
