U.S. Military Discloses Eight Civilian Deaths In Air Strikes Against IS

The U.S. military says eight civilians were likely killed and three others wounded in five separate air strikes last year targeting the extremist group Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria.

The Pentagon said two civilians were killed in April and three killed in June in air strikes against the IS targets.

U.S. Central Command said on January 15 that investigations found that the strikes complied with the laws on armed conflict and that appropriate precautions were taken.

The U.S. military said it regrets "the unintentional loss of life and injuries resulting from those air strikes."
