U.S. Drone Attack Kills 5 Suspected Militants In Pakistan

Pakistan security officials say a U.S. drone attack has killed five suspected militants in North Waziristan tribal district.

It was the third such attack reported in Pakistan's tribal regions near the Afghan border since U.S. special forces killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in a Pakistani city near Islamabad on May 2.

Officials say that a U.S. drone fired two missiles into a vehicle in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan on May 12, killing five suspected militants.

The Haqqani network, an al-Qaeda-linked group blamed by the United States for some of the deadliest attacks on U.S. troops in Afghanistan, as well as kidnappings, is based in the area.
