Six Reported Killed In Suspected U.S. Drone Strike In Pakistan's North Waziristan

Pakistani intelligence officials are quoted as saying at least six suspected militants have been killed in a missile strike by suspected unmanned U.S. drone aircraft in Pakistan's tribal region of North Waziristan, near the Afghanistan border.

The strike early on April 22 is reported to have targeted a compound about 35 kilometers east of the region's main town of Miranshah.

North Waziristan is a known sanctuary for Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.

The United States has regularly carried out drone strikes in the region in recent years to target militants.

The strikes are controversial in Pakistan, where the government says anger over civilian casualties can increase support for militants.
