International Air Show Opens In Moscow

16 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Some 200 aircraft are on display at the Moscow International Air Show, which opened today at an airfield just outside the Russian capital.

More than 600 companies from 40 countries are taking part in the six-day show that is held every two years.

American F-15 and F-16 fighter jets and tanker aircraft have already arrived at the Zhukovskii airfield and the show organizers said the U.S. Air Force was also to fly two B-1B bombers to the airfield.

President Vladimir Putin, in his address at the opening of the air show, said Russia is ready for wide cooperation with foreign partners in the air and space industry.
