RFE/RL is seeking an experienced Planning Producer to join its Georgian Service in Prague.
You will coordinate and support the planning and delivery of long-form, multimedia, and explainer content across platforms, working closely with editors and producers to ensure timely, original, and mission-driven journalism. In this role you will operate as an individual contributor role with no direct supervisory responsibilities.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate editorial planning for long-form, multimedia, and explainer content.
- Contribute story ideas and support daily, weekly, and long-term editorial planning.
- Maintain a pipeline of story ideas, pitches, and major coverage projects.
- Manage the editorial planning calendar and identify coverage opportunities based on key events, trends, and audience interests.
- Coordinate coverage plans, production workflows, and content delivery schedules.
- Adapt and localize content for Georgian audiences and facilitate content sharing across RFE/RL services.
- Support the development of multimedia storytelling formats, including explainers, visual stories, and interactive content.
- Coordinate with Broadcast Operations and other RFE/RL teams to support efficient production and distribution.
- Ensure all content meets RFE/RL’s standards of accuracy, fairness, balance, and impartiality.
- The role contributes to the quality, coordination, and timely delivery of the Georgian Service’s editorial output across platforms.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
You should have:
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience in journalism, communications, media, or a related field.(Mandatory)
- 5 or more years of experience in a multi-platform news gathering environment. (Mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience coordinating content in multi-platform and video news production. (Mandatory)
- Previous experience working in a multicultural or multinational environment, or living and working abroad, preferably in relevant RFE/RL broadcast regions. (Desirable)
- Strong knowledge of political, economic, and social developments in the coverage area, as well as regional and international affairs. (Mandatory)
- Ability to originate story ideas, develop compelling content, and consistently meet deadlines. (Mandatory)
- Demonstrated creative and innovative approach to editorial planning, including cross-platform content formats and audience engagement strategies. (Mandatory)
- Good understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the Georgian Service and its target audience, with ability to contribute constructive ideas to editorial and coverage planning.(Mandatory)
- Ability to collaborate effectively and provide proactive support to colleagues within and across teams. (Mandatory)
Languages:
- Target language: Native or near-native proficiency, Oral + Written. (Mandatory)
- English language: Proficient, Oral + Written. (Mandatory)
- Russian language or other broadcast region language(s): Working knowledge. (Desirable)
