Internship Opportunity in Current Time – Video Producer

If you wish to make a difference in places where free media is under threat or does not exist, RFE/RL offers eligible students the opportunity to engage with professionals and learn more about our mission. In doing so, you would acquire direct, practical experience with the support of a mentor. Internships are competitive and unpaid. We offer skills development and an opportunity to contribute to an exciting media project.

Current Time is a young and driven team that produces news and original content across various digital platforms to complement the coverage of Current Time, Radio Liberty's Russian-language TV network. We provide engaging and accurate reporting and storytelling across platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and more.

We are looking for someone to join our video production team who is proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, has Russian language skills, and is eager to further develop their video editing and short-form storytelling skills.

The intern will by mentored by an experienced Video Producer and support the production of short videos for social media, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok.

Internship Details

Duration: Ideally 3 months, with the possibility of an extension up to 6 months.

Start date: Ideally August or September.

Hours: 10–15 hours per week, usually around 2–3 hours per day.

Location: Hybrid format, with occasional visits to the RFE/RL office at Hagibor, Prague.

You will work on

  • Searching for compelling stories suitable for short-form video
  • Gathering footage, including UGC and agency videos
  • Preparing rough cuts in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Organizing project files and structuring raw materials
  • Supporting the production workflow for social media videos

You will learn

  • About the work of the Current Time Digital team
  • How a real newsroom and video production team operate from the inside
  • How to create short-form video content for social media
  • How to structure a story and hook the viewer
  • The difference between a journalistic approach and standard blogging
  • Editing workflows in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Basic compositing in Adobe After Effects
  • Selected basics in Audition, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • How to use video collaboration tools such as Frame.io
  • How AI tools and LLMs can be used to automate and speed up parts of the working process

Minimum requirements are

  • Current university student or recent graduate
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Russian language skills, as the production is entirely in Russian
  • Interest in international affairs and familiarity with RFE/RL’s mission and regions of coverage
  • Interest in journalism, short-form video, and social media storytelling
  • Availability for 10–15 hours per week for 3–6 months

Knowledge of Adobe After Effects would be a great advantage. Ukrainian language skills are a plus.

Links to any video editing work samples, social media videos, or other relevant projects are welcomed.
