Kidnapped Lawyer In Hussein Trial Found Dead

(RFE/RL) 21 October 2005 -- The body of a lawyer for a co-defendant of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was found today after the man was kidnapped late last night.

Police said Sad'un al-Janabi, a lawyer for Ba'ath Party official Awad Hamad Bandar Sa'dun, had been abducted by a group of up to 10 armed men from his home late yesterday.

Police say they found al-Janabi's body near Baghdad's Fardus Mosque today. Police say he had been shot several times in the head and chest.

There has been no claim of responsibility.

The lawyer was in court on 19 October for the opening of Hussein's trial in Baghdad.
