Rice's Ukraine visit will focus on political, economic reforms one year after the Orange Revolution (RFE/RL)
30 November 2005 -- The U.S. State Department says Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Romania, Ukraine, Germany, and Belgium on a five-day tour starting 5 December.
The State Department says Rice's trip to Romania -- her first -- will enable her to continue a broad range of dialogue with the NATO ally.
Her stop in Ukraine will underscore U.S. support for continued political and economic reforms one year after the Orange Revolution.
It says Rice's trip will also offer her a chance to meet new German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
She also plans to participate in a NATO ministerial meeting while in Brussels.
