Poland's Treasury Minister Resigns

Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz (file photo) (epa) 3 January 2006 -- Polish Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz today accepted the resignation of Treasury Minister Andrzej Mikosz, who held the post just two months.

The move comes after a press report accused Mikosz of having ties with a businessman accused of fraudulent financial transactions.

Mikosz has denied any wrongdoing.

He is the first cabinet minister to leave the two-month-old government.
