U.S. Helicopter Reported Lost Near Mosul

U.S. Chinook helicopter (file photo) (official site) 13 January 2006 -- A U.S. military helicopter has been reported lost near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

A top U.S. military commander, Lieutenant General John Vines, said the indications are that hostile fire was the cause.

There were no further details.
