Swedish Terror Suspect Held In Prague Maintains Innocence

17 January 2006 -- A Swedish citizen being held in the Czech Republic on suspicion of planning to set up a terrorist camp in the U.S. says he is innocent.

Oussama Kassir was arrested last month at the airport in the capital, Prague. He has been charged in the United States with planning to set up a terrorist training camp in the western state of Oregon.

Czech authorities are awaiting an official extradition request from the United States.

Kassir, a Swede of Lebanese origin, told Czech television he had visited the U.S. on vacation in 1999, but he was not there to set up a terrorist camp.
