Eight Afghan Soldiers Killed In Two Blasts

(RFE/RL) 10 February 2006 -- Eight Afghan soldiers have been reported killed in two separate bomb explosions.

Western news agencies quote officials as saying the attacks occurred in the eastern Konar Province early today.

Officials said two soldiers were killed in the first blast, and the others were killed when a bomb hit their vehicle as they were traveling to the site of the first blast.

At least six soldiers are reported to have been injured in the two explosions.

Taliban insurgents are suspected of being behind the attacks.
