Local police say today's attack happened in the Muqur district of the southern Ghanzi Province. Four suspected Taliban shot dead the district intelligence chief as he was driving to work. Police returned fire and arrested one of the attackers.

On April 4, an intelligence chief was killed in Del-Aram district of western Nimroz Province. The Taliban reportedly claimed responsibility for the slaying.

The same day, Afghan security forces killed four suspected insurgents in the southern Helmand Province. The insurgents were reportedly caught planning an ambush on local antinarcotics police.
