Pro-Putin Party Against Allowing Third Term

Boris Gryzlov (file photo) (CTK) April 18, 2006 -- The pro-Kremlin Unified Russia party says it would not support a vote in parliament to change the constitution to allow President Vladimir Putin to run for a third term in 2008.

The statement by the party's leader, Boris Gryzlov, came after a pro-Kremlin civic group in North Ossetia made the latest in a series of calls for Putin to remain in office beyond March 2008, when his second and final term ends.
