Iran's Supreme Leader Urges Government To Curb Inflation

October 2, 2006 -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has urged President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's administration to step up efforts to curb inflation.

Addressing a cabinet meeting on October 1, Khamenei said "the prime responsibility of officials is to serve the people."

The official rate of annual inflation in Iran stands at around 10 percent. But some experts believe the real figure is close to double that figure.
