(RFE/RL) October 16, 2006 -- A local lawmaker in the central Urals region of Russia has reportedly been shot dead.
Aleksandr Semyonov, a member of the Irbit city council, was found dead late on October 15 in a central street. He had gunshot wounds in his back.
Police say the lawmaker had several criminal convictions and had spent about 10 years in prison.
