Tehran Militia Members Again Protest UN Sanctions

January 3, 2007 -- Demonstrators have again protested in front of the United Nations office in Tehran against a UN Security Council resolution imposing limited sanctions on Iran over its nuclear activities.

The protesters, members of the Basij voluntary civilian militia, reportedly chanted slogans against the United States, Britain, and Israel, saying they were behind last month's resolution.

The protesters also stressed what they said was Iran's right to a peaceful nuclear program.

A group of Basij members gathered in front of the same office for a similar protest on December 27, several days after the Security Council unanimously passed the resolution.
