Karabakh Talks in Paris

Paris, May 31 (RFE/RL) -- Reports say top representatives of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Paris. These types of talks on the level of presidential aides have taken place recently, along with the talks sponsored by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE talks are co-chaired by Russia and Finland.

An OSCE team is scheduled to visit the region next week (June 5-9) to determine if talks, which broke down at the end of march, should be resumed.

The presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia also are scheduled to meet next week (June 3) in the resort town of Kislovodsk in southern Russia to discuss the Karabakh conflict, and also to discuss the Abkhazia and Chechnya conflicts.
