Moscow, July 31 (RFE/RL) -- Russian President Boris Yeltsin met today with his chief of staff, Anatoly Chubais, to discuss the upcoming inauguration and personnel changes in the Kremlin.
Chubais said after their 90-minute meeting that Yeltsin is "in absolutely normal, excellent condition." But he said the president needs what he called a "normal vacation."
Chubais said Yeltsin is considering taking a "proper" holiday after his inauguration on August 9. Chubais has been put in charge of the inauguration ceremonies.
Interfax reported that Chubais presented his suggestions for the post of first deputy prime minister in charge of economics. The agency said the list included reformer and ex-presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky; the president's economic adviser Alexander Livshits; and former economics minister Alexander Shokhin.
