Prague, 23 August 1996 (RFE/RL) -- Armenia's Central Election Commission yesterday registered all major candidates for the country's presidential election on September 22.
The field of seven candidates includes:
Incumbent President Levon Ter-Petrossian, who is officially an independent candidate but has been endorsed by the ruling Hanrapetutune parliamentary group.
Vasgen Manukian, a former dissident and National Democratic Union leader.
Paruir Hairikian, a former dissident and Soviet political prisoner.
Sergey Badalian, first secretary of the Armenian Communist Party.
