Prague, 22 January 1997 (RFE/RL) - Our correspondent reports that eight people engaged in drug trafficking were arrested in Kazan, capital of the Russian republic of Tatarstan. All eight are Azerbaijanis, who arrived in Kazan from the Azerbaijani town of Jelalabad. During the arrest police seized 500 grams of opium.
Chinese Delegation To Discuss Economic Cooperation
A delegation from China's Cyngdzyang-Uigur autonomous region has arrived in Kazan. Our correspondent reports the delegation is led by a top manager of the Czyngzyang machine building general company and will discuss development of bilateral cooperation and trade contacts.
