Bratislava, 27 February 1997 (RFE/RL) - Slovak Prime Minister Vladimir Meciar will make his first official visit to the Czech Republic soon at the invitation of his Czech counterpart, Vaclav Klaus.
A Slovak government spokeswoman told RFE/RL that Meciar's visit is still in the planning stages, but is expected to take place in April. A Slovak Foreign Affair Ministry spokesman added that the agenda is now being prepared.
Czech Foreign Ministry official Petr Maryska said both sides have much to discuss, including bilateral agreements and issues concerning the former Czechoslovak State Bank.
Klaus visited the Slovak Republic in an official capacity early in 1993, soon after the establishment of the Slovak Republic.
