Prague, 20 June 1997 (RFE/RL) - Three presidents and 15 foreign and defense ministers are to be among some 200 participants at a five-day NATO workshop opening tomorrow at Prague castle.
The conference is being organized by the supreme commander of NATO forces in Europe, General George Joulwan.
This year's 14th international NATO workshop on political and military decision-making, entitled "The New NATO: The Road Ahead," will open with a dinner speech by Czech President Vaclav Havel.
General Joulwan and Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski are to speak on Sunday morning. Romanian President Emil Constantinescu's speech is scheduled for Monday morning.US Deputy Defense Secretary John White will also attend the conference and is scheduled to hold talks with defense ministers of several countries.
Defense and/or Foreign ministers from Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are to attend along with the Defense Ministers of Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Norway.
