Bosnia: Serbs Invite U.N. Judges To Pale

Belgrade, 4 August 1997 (RFE/RL) -- The Serb member of Bosnia's collective presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, invited U.N. war crimes judges to the Bosnian Serb stronghold of Pale Friday to investigate charges against former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic.

Karadzic has been indicted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal in the Hague on genocide charges and has a home in Pale.

Krajisnik told Yugoslavia's Tanjug news agency that "the Serb people do not consider Radovan Karadzic to be a war criminal," but he added that tribunal judges are welcome to come to Pale to conduct an investigation. He added that his government will provide "all the necessary documentation."
