Belarus/Armenia: Presidents Discuss Cooperation


Minsk, 7 June 2002 (RFE/RL) -- Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka met yesterday in Minsk. The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the nations. Lukashenka said the countries will sign agreements to develop trade and economic relations.

Kocharian and Lukashenka also discussed Russian-NATO relations. Lukashenka said that he saw nothing extraordinary in Russia's improved relations with NATO. He said dialogue between Russia and NATO is crucial to international security. Kocharian said Armenia would welcome any form of cooperation between NATO and Russia.
