Bosnia: NATO-Led Troops Arrest War Crimes Suspect

Sarajevo, 13 June 2002 (RFE/RL) -- Soldiers of the NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) today arrested Bosnian Serb war crimes suspect Darko Mrdja in the Bosnian town of Prijedor. Bosnian Serb Interior Ministry spokesman Zoran Glusac reported the arrest, but NATO peacekeepers have not confirmed it. Police in Prijedor said an unknown person was arrested along with Mrdja.

The Bosnian Serb News Agency (SRNA) said Mrdja is wanted under a sealed indictment from the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, charging him with war crimes committed in central Bosnia during the country's 1992-95 war.
