An 11-year-old boy living on Russia's Taimyr Peninsula, some 3,000 kilometers northeast of Moscow, discovered the remains of a 30,000-year-old mammoth while walking his dog. Researchers from St. Petersburg, who recently spent a week excavating the remains from the permafrost, describe the find as the best-preserved mammoth carcass in more than a century. (Reuters)
