RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service has come across a long-forgotten work written in Russian by celebrated Soviet-era author Chingiz Aitmatov during his visit to the Czechoslovak capital, Prague, in the early 1960s. The story, a short essay, was never published in Russian or Kyrgyz but appeared in Czech in "Zlaty maj," a literary magazine about children's books and arts. Czech writer Zdenek Slaby, who was the editor in chief of "Zlaty maj" at the time, showed the handwritten pages of Aitmatov's essay, "A Few Words About Love," to RFE/RL's Janyl Chytyrbaeva in Prague and talked about his encounter with the late Kyrgyz author.
