Abubakar Siddique

Ghani: I was part of the negotiations over this agreement. It guarantees Afghan sovereignty and ensures sustainable support for our security forces.
13:56 16.2.2014
Arsala: This agreement was drafted by the Afghan government and was backed by a Loya Jirga (grand council) and the parliament. So I think it is in the best interest of the Afghan people to conclude this agreement soon. Washington should end raids on Afghan homes.
13:54 16.2.2014
Akbar Ayazi -- Fifth Question: President Hamid Karzai has laid down an end to the raids on Afghan homes and a credible beginning of the peace process as the key preconditions for signing a historic Bilateral Security Agreement with the United States. If Karzai resists signing the agreement, would you insist on the same conditions or will make new demands after you are elected as the president?
13:39 16.2.2014
Ghani: We need to engage in a regional stability agreement, which will ensure that nobody supports non-state actors to foment violence. We also need to reach out to global powers.
13:37 16.2.2014
Naim: We want to build local reconciliation councils at district and provincial levels. We would appoint neutral figures to these councils to promote peace. We need to adopt a better foreign policy too.
13:35 16.2.2014
Arsala: Peace is in our hands. We need to move the peace talks forward by ensuring participation of all Afghans. In addition, we need better governance and poverty eradication to gain the sympathies of our people. We also need to improve our relations with our neighbors and the international community.
13:33 16.2.2014
Ghani: Peace has three aspects, international, regional and domestic. We need to indicate that we will defend our political system. I support comprehensive talks for reconciliation among Afghans.
13:30 16.2.2014
Ayazi -- Fourth Question: Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said that the key to peace in Afghanistan is in the hands of the United States and Pakistan. What do you think about this statement. How do you plan to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan?
13:27 16.2.2014
Ghani: We have to reorient our economy to become productive rather than one dependent on spending.
13:25 16.2.2014
Arsala: We have a lot of potential in agriculture and mineral development. We can only attract investment if we improve governance. We potentially have $3 trillion in mineral wealth.
